Married: 10/31/1870 in Salt Lake City, Utah

Thomas was 11 yrs. old when he came to U.S. and went to Utah with parents and other brothers and sisters. Thomas was 20 yrs. old when parents went to Missouri from Utah and 65 yrs. old when he died.

Thomas had a woman sealed to him by the name of Bjirkholm, a Later Day Saints religious practice. Thomas and Anne Marie's last child, a son, was born and died the same day, 11/26/1887. His name was Edward.

Thomas was a private in the Utah Territory Military Infantry and fought in the Black Hawk War. Thomas's wife's sister, Caroline, was married to a Niels Thompson whom Andrew Bjerregaard began freighting with. Click here for more detail of the Utah Black Hawk War.

Thomas died of dropsy. He was a freighter. More about child Edward taken from Carol Burch's History; Born: 11/26/1887 Ephraim, Sanpete, UT.. Died: 11/29/1889 Ephraim, Sanpete, UT.. Infant is buried in old pioneer cemetery north of Ephraim, UT.

Married: 10/31/1870 in Salt Lake City, Utah

Anne, Anne Maria, Marie Schwalbe Bjerregaard. She died when she was 88 yrs. old. Anne Marie and Thomas's last child was born and died the same day, 11/26/1887, his name was Edward.

On our trip to Utah in the summer of 1996 we visited with two of Thomas and Anne Mariah's grandchildren. (Helen Bjerregaard Rigby who lives in Ephraim, UT. and Mary Bjerregaard Kempf who lives in Las Vegas, Nev.) They told us that Ann was a cleanliness fanatic and that her place was spotless throughout.

The girls told us that in Anne's older years they would clean house for her and that it was a impossible task. They would scrub the floors and steps until they would shine and clean the furniture until it passed her smell test. The girls said it wasn't very funny at the time but they could laugh about it now.

I, D. Byergo, through research at the L.D.S. Genealogical Library at Sun City, CA. found Anne had a sister (Caroline Sophia Augaste Schwalbe/Schwalby Born: 08/21/1843/1845 Nyborg, Denmark. Married to a Niels Thompson or Niels Pedersen whom Andrew Bjerregaard began freighting with.

Following info. on Anne taken from Carol Burch's history: Listed as Anna M. S. Bjerregaard of Ephraim, Utah died at 87years in the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News papers. She died of old age and was listed as Ephraim oldest resident at the time. She came to New York, USA with her parents by way of Hamburg, Germany on the square rigger "The Humbolt" in April 9, 1862, landing at Castle Garden on May 20, 1862. Company captain on the ship was Hansen.

The plains company captain was Murdock. 14 of the immigrants died from Germany to Florence, NE. Anna walked across the plains in her wooden shoes behind an oxen team at the age of 11. She helped make adobes for houses and the first home they had in the new world was a cellar, the roof was made of willows and straw.

The light at night was by fireplace. Many times they ate sego lilies and wild berries. They made their own clothes, which were scant and hung like sacks on them. She became a citizen in 1870. She was married in Manti, UT. and born in Copenhagen, Fyn, Nieberg, Denmark. She was a housewife, petite, well groomed, dark brown hair, grey or blue eyes, tiny waist. Her granddaughter Helen remembers her as always wearing a black dress with white lace collar and cuffs, and white apron, both ankle length.

When married she lived in the small two story house on the northwest corner of 3rd south 2nd east in Ephraim.
